Apple stops supporting iPhone 6 Plus

Apple announced that the iPhone 6 Plus has been placed in the list of old devices, which means the end of all different forms of support provided to it by the company. The American company considers the products it launches to be outdated, when they have been discontinued for more than 7 years.

Apple stops all hardware-related services for older products, and also stops providing spare parts for those products. Apple launched the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in September 2014, with key features such as adding larger screens than previous versions and supporting Apple Pay.

The company stopped production of the iPhone 6 Plus in September of 2016, but the iPhone 6, the smaller version, has then remained available through distributors in some countries for longer, so it is not an old device yet, according to Apple's standards. Regarding the operating system, the company had stopped supporting core system updates with iOS 13 released in 2019.
In terms of iPads, Apple has also added the fourth-generation iPad mini among the "old" devices, which means that it has been more than five years since the company stopped selling it.

The company and its authorized service providers continue to provide repairs to "obsolete" products for up to two more years, subject to the availability of spare parts. In a related context, the company also added the red version PRODUCT Red only of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus to the list of "vintage" devices.
