According to the press release issued by the alliance, the number of devices supporting Wi-Fi 7 networks is expected to reach more than 233 million devices by the end of 2024, including smartphones and laptops, in addition to the routers necessary to enable connectivity to this new type of network, and other devices.

The alliance said the new generation of Wi-Fi will contribute to the development of areas such as augmented and virtual reality, three-dimensional training, electronic games, hybrid work, the Internet of Things, cars, and others. It is worth noting that there are some companies that have introduced products that support connecting to Wi-Fi 7 networks without waiting for a license from the Wi-Fi alliance, such as Amazon, which introduced the Amazon eero router several months ago, in addition to other products from TP-Link and Netgear. Wi-Fi 7 provides up to 320 MHz channel bandwidth on the 6GHz frequency band, enabling blazing fast connection speeds, and supports Multi-Link Operation (MLO) technology, which will allow devices to seamlessly send and receive data across multiple bands and different channels, improving performance, reducing latency, and providing support for more connected devices at the same time, even in high-traffic places.

The Wi-Fi Alliance is a non-profit organization that promotes Wi-Fi technology, and the alliance includes more than 800 members from hardware and software manufacturers, telecommunications companies and infrastructure companies, and the alliance's mission is to ensure that products supporting Wi-Fi connectivity meet specific standards in order to ensure their compatibility and stability in addition to developing new standards to improve performance, and it is the official body that grants companies Wi-Fi licenses.
