Apple has unveiled the first version of its iMac family of desktop devices with its latest M4 processor, to be the first desktop computer from the company that supports the operation of its artificial intelligence features Apple Intelligence with its latest processors.
Apple has entered the family of its desktop computers into the world of artificial intelligence based on its M4 processor, which it presented for the first time to the market with its advanced version of its iPad Pro 2024 tablets, which it launched last May. The company developed the M4 processor using the second generation of 3nm technology, which is equipped with a 16-core Neural Engine processing unit, and offers 60 times faster performance than the neural unit that arrived with the Apple A11 processor, and can compete with neural processing units in Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm processors for computers and tablets.
The M4's neural processing unit offers the ability to accomplish 38 trillion tasks in one second, through its performance based on 28 billion transistors. The M4 processor also offers 4X more graphics performance than the M2 processor, and 50% higher performance than the M2 chip with data processing. The M4 chip was Apple's direct response card to the Snapdragon X Elite processor for personal computers, which achieved outstanding results in tests against MacBook computers powered by the Apple M3 processor, all of which are racing to provide strong performance with artificial intelligence tasks and applications.
The new device comes with an 8-core data processing unit, a graphics processing unit of up to 10 cores, with a 24-inch screen and a 4.5K display resolution, in addition to offering a nano-texture screen option that helps reduce light reflections on the screen, providing a better viewing experience for users. The device also offers a 12-megapixel front front camera at the top center of the screen with the Center Stage feature for video chats via "FaceTime". It also offers RAM starting at 16 GB, which is double the capacity provided by the last generation of the device, and this capacity reaches 32 GB.
