OpenAI begins training the new generation of its GPT-5 smart model

OpenAI recently began training the next generation of AI models, with the new model expected to be called GPT-5. In an official statement, the company described its upcoming smart model as "the next supermodel," noting that the capabilities that will be included in the soon-to-be model will significantly outperform the capabilities of its flagship GPT-4 model. In mid-May, the company unveiled the new GPT-4O artificial intelligence model, a version similar to the GPT-4 model, but comes with more advanced capabilities in processing text, audio and visual materials.
Over the past two years, the company has worked extensively on developing capabilities, as well as performing its smart models.
The model is changing the way humans interact with computers, by equipping ChatGPT with advanced capabilities in handling written text and voice commands, as well as understanding and perceiving what a smartphone camera sees. The company also equipped its model with innovative methods for understanding the overlapping sounds of a group of speakers of different languages, direct translation between them and the way to understand the tone of sounds, as well as the ability to analyze facial features and understand emotions through them.

A fateful step
OpenAI's entry into the next "supermodel" training phase is a crucial step, because the company's founder and director, Sam Altman, confirmed in a previous interview with the Financial Times that the GPT-5 model needs a huge amount of data to train it, which contributes to taking the capabilities of artificial intelligence to a whole new level.
Since last year, ChatGPT has partnered with 9 huge institutions and platforms, allowing it to access a giant database of content ranging from images, videos and texts, which helps it train its various smart models, to become more capable in producing different forms of content. Among the organizations with which OpenAI has partnered include News Corp., owner of the Wall Street Journal and more than 12 other media outlets, as well as Shutterstock, the Associated Press, and Reddit.
In an interview with the famous interviewer Lex Friedman, Altman revealed that OpenAI is preparing this year to launch a dazzling smart model, but before its launch, the company needs to introduce a number of new updates first, which confirms that GPT-4o is one of them, and we may see the arrival of new features before we reach the expected "supermodel".
