A Chinese company develops technology to charge the phone in less than 5 minutes

Realme announced its new 320W SuperSonic charger, which allows the phone's battery to be charged 100% in less than 5 minutes, outperforming its biggest competitors. The company explained that this technology allows charging phones very quickly, as the charging power reaches 7 times more than what Google offers with its new phone, Pixel 9, which comes with a charging speed of 45 watts with the charger head dedicated to fast charging, stressing that ultra-fast charging technology allows charging the phone completely within only 4 minutes and 30 seconds, and it can charge the phone by more than 50% in less than two minutes.

The company says that despite the increased power, the size of the charger will remain similar to the size of its previous 240W charger, and this technology is expected to be mostly for Realme phones only, amid hopes that other phone companies will follow suit; and introduce similar technology in their devices. With such a powerful charging power, users have concerns about how safely it is to use such technology to charge their smartphone batteries. Realme addressed this with what it calls the industry's first AirGap voltage transformer, which ensures that the high voltage is isolated from the battery in the event of any malfunction during the charging process.

The transformer is smaller than a fingertip, lowers the voltage to 20V to protect the battery, and contributes to maintaining "exceptional switching efficiency and advanced thermal management," allowing the SuperSonic charger to achieve an energy efficiency of about 98%.

realme also unveiled a 4420mAh foldable battery, which contains four cells, each with a thickness of no more than 3 millimeters, providing a 10% increase in capacity compared to traditional designs.

It is noteworthy that the Chinese company had last year introduced high-speed charging technology on board its GT Neo 5, with a charging power of 240 watts, which allows charging the phone's battery from 0 to 100% in just 10 minutes.
