Apple launched a new software update package for iPhone iOS 17.2 and watchOS 10.2 smartphones, and the updates carry a number of new features for video shooting on iPhone 15 phones, the Journal service, and the treatment of the problem of charging phones wirelessly in some cars, while postponing the introduction of two features that it had announced to 2024.
The iOS 17.2 update offers many features such as the ability to customize the Action Button for instant voice translation, allowing the shooting of rich Spatial Videos on iPhone 15 phones to play on Apple Vision Pro glasses, as well as developing the user experience to zoom in when shooting with iPhone 15 Pro phones, in addition to filling a number of gaps such as solving the problem of charging the latest iPhone phones wirelessly with a number of cars.
Journal Service Access
After it was first revealed in June, the new Journal service arrived to blog on iPhones, which allows the user to write down his experiences and life situations, and the application facilitates that task by collecting photos, videos, geographical locations, music, fitness exercise data, and others, so that the user can blog about them.
The application supports the user, with a number of tools to filter the data collected on the board, so that the user can quickly access the data he wants to write about and link it to his memories.
To keep the user focused, the application provides the ability to schedule alert notifications to remind the user to blog, where he can choose the days and times when these notifications reach his phone.
The application also allows storing and synchronizing all the user's posts within his account on the "iCloud" service, allowing access to all posts from all his devices.
Update the Action Button
The company added a new option to use the Action Button, which allows the user to activate simultaneous voice translation for conversations between different languages, on board the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Better experience with photography
Apple has fulfilled its promise to iPhone 15 Pro users to allow the shooting of rich Spatial Videos, so that the user can shoot videos rich in details that make him feel like a part of it, when he watches them on board the Apple Vision Pro glasses, when it arrives next year.
The company has also developed with its new software update the Zoom experience when shooting videos and photos using iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, as the update facilitates the process of adjusting focus on a specific element during "Zoom", faster compared to its performance before the update.
Easier with iMessages
Apple has also introduced new features on board its iMessages text messaging application, as the company makes it easier with the new update for the user to directly access the first message that the user did not read within any conversation, by pressing the arrow button that will appear at the top right of the conversation interface.
Apple also tried to add a new way for users to express themselves and their personalities by allowing interaction with a specific message within a conversation, via stickers, by pressing and holding the message he wants to interact with and choosing Add Sticker.
With the iOS 17.2 update, the company also allows users to change the body shape of any virtual Memoji character.
With the new update, the features of Contact Key Verification and Contact Verification Codes have also arrived, which allow the user to get automatic notifications alerting him if someone is eavesdropping on the conversation, as well as the second feature ensures that the user does not fall into this danger in the first place.
Greater weather knowledge
The new update will make Apple aware of weather conditions and the possibility of rain and snowfall for 10 days, in advance.
The user will also be able to keep an eye on different weather developments by providing an update to a new set of Widgets, such as rainfall, daily weather forecasts, wind speeds and air quality.
Besides, the user will be able to use a complete map of wind movement over the next 24 hours, to be prepared to wear appropriate clothing.
The update also provides the ability to follow the shape of the moon and its evolution over the course of a whole month in advance, so the user can know how the moon will look like on a particular day.
Updates and fixes for issues
In addition to the new features, iOS 17.2 will come with an update to the capabilities of Apple's smart assistant Siri, so that Siri can answer users' questions about their health status, by giving it access to the Health app data.
The update offers the ability to wireless charging with Qi2 technology for iPhone 13 and iPhone 14, which is one of the features that surprised the general public with its arrival.
The new update also allows users to exchange a large number of data types with others via iPhones through the AirDrop feature, such as exchanging boarding passes, movie tickets and other interchangeable documents.
Apple has also made it easier for users of its service "Apple Music" to return to their favorite songs, by creating a new tab for that called Favorite Songs Playlist.
The company allowed the user to control how their music listening history is used on Apple Music, so that it controls how this affects the songs suggested to them or the likelihood that those songs will appear in the "Recently Played" list.
Apple also added a new mini application for the digital clock, which the user can use on the home screen of his phone, as well as appears when using the phone in StandBy mode.
The company also offers an Enhanced AutoFill feature that makes it easier for the user to fill in text fields in documents in PDF format, by suggesting that names and addresses be typed quickly.
Deferred benefits
The company postponed the arrival of two new features to 2024, the first is for creating lists sharing music on "Apple Music", allowing friends to participate in adding songs to the same playlist, but the postponement is due to the company's concern that the feature will turn into a way to annoy users.
The second deferred feature is AirPlay for Hotels, which allows the user to play iPhone content on TVs in a number of hotels, using QR code scanning.
