TrendForce research group has revealed a new report highlighting the rise in SSD prices in 2024, due to the rise in the price of NAND memory by up to 50%.
The rise in the price of the NAND memory chip already began in the second half of 2023, and this rise will continue further as NAND memory manufacturers try to focus on increasing their profits.
Increasing the price of the NAND memory chip by up to 40% would bring the situation of the producing companies back to normal, but a rise in the price by up to 50% means profits instead of the losses that hit many companies, most notably Micron, which lost about $ 2.3 billion in the second quarter of 2023.
Today's figures confirm that the prices of 512GB TLC chips are up to 120% higher than in July, and the prices of 256GB TLC chips are up 60%, and with 128GB up by up to 22%.
Since December 6, the price of 512GB TLC NAND chips has increased by up to 7.4%, and with a size of 256GB up by 4.2%.
