The Sony a7S III offers significant improvements in performance and versatility, featuring a 12.1MP Exmor RS BSI CMOS sensor and the BIONZ XR processor that enhance speed, reduce noise, and expand dynamic range. The camera supports 4K 120p video recording with 10-bit 4:2:2 sampling, as well as 16-bit raw output when using an external HDMI connection.

It features an improved Fast Hybrid AF system with 759 phase-detection points and Real-time Eye AF tracking. The camera also includes 5-axis image stabilization to reduce camera shake during handheld shooting.

The design includes a tilting LCD screen, an OLED viewfinder, and dual CFexpress Type A/SD memory card slots. It supports connectivity through HDMI, USB Type-C, and Wi-Fi for easy control and sharing.
